Jurancon Sec 2014, Clos Lapeyre, South West, France

Sold out.

The vineyards of Clos Lapeyre lie in the foothills of the Pyrenees facing southwards and sheltered from the wind they are perfectly positioned so as to get maximum exposure to the sun. The Whites in this region are mostly made from the relatively unknown Petit Manseng variety and Jean-Bernard leaves the grapes on the vines for as long as possible in order to achieve some serious aromatic intensity. There is a wonderful citric tang that dances across the palate accompanied by reassuring weight and texture and a lovely rich, golden hue from the lees stirring all of which goes to make this wine both seriously delicious and deliciously complex.
