Burgenlandrot, 2014, Meinklang, Burgenland, Austria

Sold out.

The classic Austrian white wine, Gruner Veltliner, has become more and more popular in this country over the past few years and in doing so has paved the way for excellent Austrian reds such as this delicious Blaufrankisch to start making an appearance on the British wine scene. Meinklang is a family affair with the whole Michlits family living and working on the estate - Angela making the wine and Werner her husband managing the operation. They work with biodynamic methods with great attention to detail seeking to promote harmony in the vineyard ecosystem and thereby produce superior fruit with no recourse to synthetic chemicals. With wonderful, enveloping raspberry and cherry fruit bursting from the glass laced with hints of herbs and flowers this is a wine made not for reflection but instead for pure unadulterated enjoyment!
