Pinot Grigio 2017, Cantina Bolzano, Alto Adige, Italy

honey, nuts, apple and pear
At its most basic, the Pinot Grigio grape produces wines that are smooth and easy to drink, but can be somewhat lacking in flavour. Not the case here - this Pinot Grigio from the high altitude vineyards of Cantina Bolzano, in the very north of Italy and close to the border of Austria, is bright, full of zippy acidity and with a stunning minerality. Showing white flowers, a hint of graphite and a lovely tone of citrus peel and apple skins.
