Echappee Bel Blanc NV, Chateau de Bel, Bordeaux, France

full, white peach, tropical fruit
Described as ‘hedonistic’ by the Revue des Vins de France, this white Bordeaux (60% Muscadelle, 40% Sauvignon Blanc) is made by Olivier Cazenave, one of the most radical producers in this most traditional of wine regions. The grapes are from a blend of vintages, the farming is biodynamic, and the wine is left to macerate on its skins, all very non-typical of Bordeaux. The result is a textured, full, aromatic white with hay and yeast on the nose, followed white peaches and big tropical fruits on the palate.
