Outeiro Tinto 2015, Alvaro Castro, Dao, Portugal

Sold out.

dark chocolate, caramel, black fruit
Even more than the prestigious but warmer Douro, the Dao is probably the best place in Portugal to find fresher aromatic styles of wines made from one of the many interesting indigenous grape varieties Portugal has to offer. And this tinto, despite showing a dark ruby colour in the glass and with all the classic concentrated bitter chocolate and dark fruit characters of a Portuguese red, is still a pleasantly refreshing glass of wine. Jaen (mencia), tinto roriz (tempranillo) and afrocheiro make up the wine vinified by a man regarded to be amonst the best winemakers in Portugal.
