Chateauneuf-de-Pape, Clos St Michel, 2012,

Sold out.

Chateauneuf-du-Pape is so well known these days that you could almost forget about it. But once you taste this amazing offering from Clos Saint-Michel you'll remember why it became so well known in the first place! This is a juicy, chewy Châteauneuf with smoky roasted meat character, black cherries and kirsch, pepper, herbs (bay leaf, rosemary) and superb fruit. It is rich, deep and generous, with a compelling sweetness of fruit and a lush, pliant texture and finishes with firm but sweet tannins and a note of dark chocolate. In other words it is absolutely everything you want in a Chateauneuf du Pap - rich, concentrated, complex, sonorous, alluring and down-right delicious.
